One ordinary journey became the beginning of an extraordinary mission. While travelling from Kheda towards Ahmedabad, our founder noticed a small calf lying beside a roadside garbage area. From a distance, it appeared lifeless. But when she moved closer, the calf slowly opened its eyes. That single moment revealed a painful reality that could no longer be ignored.
The calf had reportedly been abandoned for nearly two days. Calls were made to several nearby gaushalas, hoping someone would provide shelter and treatment. Yet help was difficult to find. Many places were unable to accept a helpless roadside animal requiring urgent care. The search continued until support finally arrived through a fellow gau sevak who helped arrange a safe place for the calf.
Sometimes a single life has the power to awaken a lifelong responsibility.
That rescue raised an important question. If one injured calf struggled to find help, how many other cows were suffering silently on roadsides without treatment, shelter, or protection? The answer led to the creation of Gaudham Gaushala, where rescue is followed by medical care, recovery support, nourishment, and lifelong responsibility.
Today, Yuva Swaraj Foundation continues serving injured, accidental, abandoned, and helpless cows with the same compassion that inspired its beginning. What started with one abandoned calf has grown into a mission dedicated to protecting lives that depend entirely on timely care and human kindness.
